As expected, Presnel Kimpembe leaves PSG after 20 years at the club, heading to Qatar where he has signed for one year. The 30-year-old defender has said his goodbyes, while already setting a date for the future.

A 20-year story concluded this Sunday with the announcement of Presnel Kimpembe's departure, transferred to Qatar Sports Club, where he has signed for one season, plus an optional one.

At 30 years old and after two seasons without playing, the central defender has preferred to move abroad to try to restart his career, which was severely hampered by his serious Achilles tendon injury suffered in February 2023 on the pitch at the Vélodrome.

Having arrived at PSG at the age of 10 in 2005, he progressed through all the levels to the first team, of which he was vice-captain for many years, wearing the armband in every absence of Marquinhos.

After 241 appearances, 3 goals, 2 assists, 31 captaincies, and a special place in the club's history due to his 27 titles won, he leaves with the affection of everyone and immense recognition from the club.

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi praised his career while saying goodbye to him:

"Presnel Kimpembe has had an incredible career at Paris Saint-Germain. Since the age of 8, Presnel has grown and developed at all levels within his heart's club, where he has always been an ambassador and a model of professionalism. He is a fantastic example for the young players at our Training Centre and will always be part of the Paris Saint-Germain family. We wish him great success for the future and his next adventure."

For his part, Kimpembe said goodbye in an Instagram video, inevitably special for him given his attachment to the club:

"I am very proud to have been part of this PSG family. It has been an honour for me to defend these colours for so many years. It has been a struggle, inevitably, but also much joy, success, encounters, and beautiful values like respect. It is a beautiful team, a nice club. Full of beautiful things, emotions."

After these words came the time for thanks:

"I wanted to thank the entire club, my presidents, the staff, all the players with whom I have been able to play, exchange, and learn," added Kimpembe, very emotional. "But also thank the supporters, because, without you, we are nothing. It has been an honour to share these moments with you at the Parc des Princes or away."

While PSG will inevitably prepare a farewell for him at the Parc des Princes, a project already in preparation according to Le Parisien, Kimpembe, for his part, has already set a date with the supporters: "We will see each other again soon, because it is never over. Good courage, everyone, and see you soon!"
